THE USE OF CINEMA IN TEACHING HISTORY AT SCHOOL: CHAPLIN'S FILMS AS A REFLECTION OF SOCIO-CULTURAL PROCESSES IN THE USA AT THE BEGINNING OF THE XX CENTURY

Abstract

The article examines the theoretical and methodological aspects of using cinema as a tool for teaching the history of modern Western countries at school. On the example of the films of Ch. Chaplin authors reveal their xpotential as a historical source in the study of the socio-cultural history of the United States in the first third of the 20th century. Methodological recommendations are given for the organization of an extracurricular event – a course of film evenings – on this issue.
